Validate credit card numbers using Luhn

What is the Credit Card Validator?

Our free Credit Card Validator instantly checks if a given credit card number is mathematically valid using the industry-standard Luhn algorithm (Modulus 10). It also detects the card network (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc.) based on the card's Initial Identification Number (IIN).

Why Use This Tool?

  • Detect Typos: Quickly verify if a customer accidentally typed their card number incorrectly before sending it to a payment processor.
  • Identify Networks: Automatically identify whether a card belongs to Visa, Amex, or Mastercard just from the starting digits.
  • 100% Privacy: This tool runs entirely offline in your browser. We never transmit or store the credit card numbers you type.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does this check if the card has balance?
No. This tool only validates the mathematical format of the number. It does not connect to any bank or payment gateway, so it cannot tell you if the card is active, stolen, or has funds available.
Is it safe to type my credit card number here?
Yes! The validation script runs entirely inside your device's web browser. No data is ever sent to our servers. However, we still recommend never typing your real credit card number into random websites.
How does it identify the card network?
Every credit card network uses specific starting digits (IIN). For example, Visa always starts with 4, MasterCards start with 5, and American Express starts with 34 or 37.
